LEXINGTON, MA — (Marketwire) — 03/31/09 — Ipswitch’s Network Management division recently announced the promotion of Ennio Carboni from VP of Sales and Marketing to President of the division. This announcement comes on the heels of the launching of WhatsUp Gold v12.4 with Mobile Access in what is a very exciting time for the Network Management team. As Ipswitch continues to develop innovative yet practical network management solutions, it will look to Carboni to drive the strategy of defining the division’s next growth initiatives.

“This division will lead an industry mission of changing the rules — building easy to use, downloadable network management solutions needing no professional services and leaving network administrators with left over budget,” states Carboni. “From the business units of the Fortune 1000 to the Global SMB/Enterprise markets, the economic downturn is fueling a realization of how much time and money has been wasted on bloated technology platforms like HP, Solarwinds® and IBM®. Those days are over and we are ready to lead. We have the products and we have the teams to enable this market.”

After spending the majority of his career in security technologies at the enterprise level, Carboni desired to round out his experience with SMB and mid-market experiences. Joining Ipswitch in 2006 as the Director of Product Management, Carboni oversaw the evolution and growth of WhatsUp Gold. He then moved on to become the VP of Sales and Marketing for the division, managing sales and marketing, and helping to almost triple the WhatsUp Gold revenue. Carboni possesses a deep understanding of the product market, technology and buying patterns.

“We are just beginning our next phase of growth and we must be better and more focused than ever,” said Roger Greene, CEO of Ipswitch. “In order for us to accomplish that, we need a motivated and knowledgeable person and I am confident that Ennio is that person.”

Carboni will lead a talented Network Management team through new initiatives including expanding the product suite to service SMB/Enterprise greenfield markets. “Half of the worldwide $1.09 trillion IT spending takes place in SMB/Enterprise markets and WhatsUp Gold can enter with strong leadership,” said Carboni.

“I have been an enthusiastic WhatsUp customer for many years now,” states Bruce McMillan of Solvay Pharmaceuticals. “Ennio places the highest priority on customer feedback and prioritizes product enhancements accordingly. I am very excited to see Ennio now lead. He has the knowledge of the product, the business eco-system and an uncommon ability to cut through the fog to the real issues at hand. I think the Network Management division will flourish.”
